The Post-Pandemic Consumer Market

This live streaming conversation from Boston Consulting Group on May 21, 2020, discussed the post-pandemic consumer market globally.

I would like to share some of my learnings:

  1. The pandemic amplifies and accelerates many existing trends, e.g. going digital, health & wellness (4:38) and the decline of traditional sales channels (8:37).

  2. The digital trend is strong and will stay. Take food retail in the USA as an example, it's now about organic, locally-sourced food, and online ordering. (6:12)

  3. Companies that are digitally savvy and have deeper consumer trust will outperform in their sector. (10:32)

  4. How to restore consumer confidence? Be transparent, be adaptive, and open communication (10:20)
